PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 HEAVEN’S GATE

Who would have thought that just a few
Could cause such fuss?
Was it out there, what they sought?
The freedom to choose life over death –
The final happiness –
Or just the end?

What were they thinking?  UFO behind
The Hale-Bopp comet?
They might as well been drinking,
And partying for life itself instead of going on
To the last frontier
Before their time.

When did the bough break in their heart
To cause them to choose death?
Was life so bad, for heaven’s sake,
That they just couldn’t wait?  Not one regret
Did they show
For leaving here.

Where are their souls – in heaven or hell?
Did they find, in the beyond,
A resting place or hot bed of coals?
That depends on whose preaching the sermon,
But we all agree
It was wrong.

How we seek for the great unknown.
The mind, a danger to itself,
A mental playground for the meek,
To stumble and fall into a trap of insanity,
But what if
They were right?
